James Troi's Visual Diary |
Inspirational photography stuff. |
I finally get to put one of my own photos on my visual diary site. I took this on Saturday with my friend’s, friend’s daughter. I think you’ll agree she makes for a beautiful model.
Shot with a single light, a Canon Speedlite 580EX II of to the right held by my lovely assistant for the day.
I usually prefer to shoot with just me and the model, but on this day the assistant (my friend who brought us together for the shoot) was invaluable.
There are times I look at a photo close-up and while I haven’t captured what I’d technically call a good picture, I’m still left amazed by the detail my camera captures when I get the focus right.
Check out that eye!
This one was taken yesterday while we were running around showing my mum how to use her new Canon 550D. It was a very crash, crash course which will no doubt be continued once we reach Fiji mid next month.
This week’s submission includes photos from the flower show, the National Gallery of Victoria, a contortionist street performer and around work. I have to get out more on the weekend. I covered off the request for slower shutter speeds last week, this week played around with depth of field.
These are my photo submissions for the week. I was pretty sick on the weekend so my submission was weak. Our task this week was do to at least 4 quarter of a second shots. It was to show camera shake and I think just how the longer shutter speeds impact our shots.
I decided to try some panning shots. They aren’t so great cause I’m pretty sure the quarter of the second was still a little too long for these shots, maybe 1/60 would have worked better.
You’ll also note a couple of shallow depth of field and wide depth of fields too.
Red Bubble have announced a new product; postcards. Not sure why they never had them before. To test them out I’ve ordered 17 or my pics as postcards. Anything above 16 receives a 40% discount so the cards cost me about $1 each. If the quality is the same as the printed greeting cards they will be awesome. I have a few of these at home already. Order was done yesterday so with any luck they will be here in about a week.
A collage of my week three submissions to the class. I hope they are well received. Photos were taken at Moomba, around the city, near work and some product shots I took for my friend Trudi. 13 in total.
